Yamaha to launch its 250cc bike in 2013-2014

Yamaha to launch its 250cc bike next year?
The name Yamaha is synonyms with performance irrespective of the segment. Be it the venerable RX100 or the R1, the motorcycles are performance stalwarts of their respective category.

In India, whenever Yamaha tried to deviate from their association with performance, they were treated with indifference. The commuter bikes from Yamaha came and went without being able to make a significant impact on the market.
The success of R15 reiterated what Indian bikers expect from Yamaha. We would’ve liked if the Japanese bike maker was more proactive and dropped a 250cc bike in the market by now. BSmotoring.com reports that Yamaha is working on a 250cc bike which would carry the design cues of R6.
The single cylinder small sports bike is expected to produce power in the vicinity of 30 bhp but sadly it wont be here until 2014. Mr. Masaki Asano, Deputy managing director of India Yamaha told Indian Motos Blog recently that the company’s focus for this year would be scooters, there by hinting that the 250cc bike is pushed to the back burner.
By 2014, Yamaha may come up with a top notch 250cc bike but it would be locking horns with similarly priced but more powerful rivals like the Duke 390 and the Pulsar 375.
Will the 250cc Yamaha crack the segment which by then would be flooded with lots of promising contenders?
